Introduction:
The exhibition is a joint initiative of SGI and the Earth Charter International. It introduces the positive vision for sustainable living expressed in the Earth Charter, and gives examples of eight individuals and groups from Africa to the Arctic and Eastern Europe, who have successfully taken action for change. The exhibition stresses our interconnectedness with the rest of the community. It encourages viewers to overcome the feelings of powerlessness and highlights the fact that a single individual can initiate positive change.
The key message of the “Seeds of Hope” Exhibition is ‘It Starts with One’. Participants of the short film competition can browse the panels of the “Seeds of Hope”(website: http://www.sgi.org/in-focus/2010/seeds-of-hope.html) and create a short film describing the interconnectedness between human, the community and the environment, and expressing how we can contribute to sustainable development by initiating action as an individual.

Notes for Enrolment：

Production Requirements：

| Other requirements | ・The production must be related to the theme. ・On submission, a description (within 200 words) of the production concept and creation idea, including the list of production crew and the origins of the background music used should be provided. ・The participating team should appoint at least one member to attend the “Short Film Production Workshop” on 30 July 2016. ・The production should be uploaded to the competition website not later than 23:59 of 15 August 2016. |

Remarks: Certificate will be issued to all participating teams.
Method of Judging
First Round: The organizer will select 10 short films from each of the competition category among the qualified submissions.
Second Round (Judge Panel): The judge panel will evaluate the 20 nominated short films, and select from each category the “Best Short Film” Champion, 1st & 2nd Runner-up, the Most Creative Short Film Award and the Outstanding Short Film Award.
The “Facebook Most Liked Award” will be elected by the public. The submission that gets the most likes from each category will be awarded.

Short Film Production Workshop (In Cantonese)

Content of Workshop: Introduction of the “Seeds of Hope” Exhibition. Sharing of short film making experience by “On-Fire Siu Chi”.

Rules and regulations:
a. All competing short films must be original works created by the participants. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify submissions that are suspected of plagerism, being already published or submitted to other competitions.
b. Participants must upload their short films via the designated competition platform, and retain the original file until the end of the award presentation ceremony.
c. The competition results concluded by the judge panel is final. In the circumstances of any disputes, the judge panel shall have the right to final decision.
d. All personal information provided by the participants is solely for the competition purpose. All data shall be kept strictly confidential.
e. The participants hereby authorize the organizer and its appointed execution unit(s) to use the participants’ short films, and according to the latter’s needs to modify, make use of, copy, exhibit publicly or on the Internet/ in other media such short films without prior consent of or payment of any intellectual fees to the participants.
f. Participants should use music, recordings or video clips of third parties in their short films only after obtaining approval from related parties. Participants hereby agree and commit to acquire legal authorization by their own. In case of any violation against the law due to the competing short films, participants shall be solely responsible and the organizer shall not bear any liability.
g. The organizer reserves the right to alternate the rules and regulations of the competition or any other arrangements without prior notice to the participants. All decisions relating to the competition made by the organizer shall be final.
